Colostrum, or "first milk," is the initial milk produced by a cow during the first few hours after calving and is one of nature's most nutrient-dense foods. Hundapoteket's colostrum comes from EU-approved farms and is produced through a gentle process where the fat is skimmed off and the raw material is freeze-dried – all to preserve immunoglobulins, bioactive components, and its natural nutritional profile.
Colostrum is rich in IgG, lactoferrin, peptides, and natural growth factors traditionally used to support the body's own processes and a well-functioning gut barrier. It is suitable for dogs and cats of all ages and can be mixed with food, dissolved in water, or given directly with a syringe (without a needle).
The product is generally well-tolerated and is a valued supplement for animals needing an extra nutritional boost, whether for everyday maintenance or temporary gastrointestinal challenges.
Colostrum contains casein and should therefore be avoided by individuals sensitive to milk protein. Introduce gradually over a week for best tolerance.

Colostrum should be avoided by dogs and cats that react to milk protein. Mild digestive reactions may occur initially but usually disappear by reducing the dose. This is a natural food supplement, not a medicine, and does not replace veterinary care for illness.
